Call for Nominations
VAF Board of Directors
We want YOU (or people like you) for the VAF BOARD!
The Vernacular Architecture Forum is now accepting nominations for new Board members for a three-year term starting in June, 2012. The strength of the organization lies in its intellectual, geographical, and ethnic diversity, so we are counting on YOU to help us find passionate, interesting people who will help lead the VAF on to new adventures!
The VAF has been the leader in the identification, study, and preservation of North America’s vernacular landscape for more than thirty years. The organization hosts an annual conference and publishes a scholarly journal (Buildings & Landscapes), a book series, and a newsletter. The VAF is administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors made up of dedicated professionals and scholars from diverse disciplines, who live and work in all parts of the United States and Canada. The VAF Board meets twice a year, once during our Annual Conference in the Spring and again in the Fall. Each Board member is expected to attend board meetings and participate in committee work.
We welcome nominations (and self nominations) of professional historians, practitioners, and independent scholars. Nominations should include the reasons for proposing the person as well as their contact information. The Nominating Committee will follow up with the nominees.
Please send nominations for Board membership—don’t be shy about nominating yourself!— to James Buckley, Nominating Committee Chair, at buckleyj@mit.edu. The deadline is October 15, 2011.
A list of the current officers as well as former presidents and board members is available here.
