Vernacular Architecture Forum Annual Meetings
Every year, generally in early
May, hundreds of VAF members assemble somewhere on the continent
for an annual conference. At least two days are devoted to
touring the area to learn first-hand about its architectural heritage
in a local or regional context. A juried paper session is
also provided to give members a forum for their scholarship and
field work. In addition, workshops, board and committee meetings,
special events and excursions are scheduled to create an enjoyable
and memorable event. Past meetings have been held through out North
America (see list below).
Our upcoming annual meetings are:
2008, May 7-10, Fresno, CA (Karana
Hattersley-Drayton)
2009 June 11-13, Butte, Montana
We will be adding some archival material
on previous meetings as well as developing postings for upcoming
meeting locations. If it inspires you to join the effort of
a meeting coming together, please contact the conference coordinators
identified here. If you would like to propose a new meeting
location, contact our 2nd Vice President and
we will pursue it.
Anyone interested in these conferences should contact
Melissa McLoud, Chesapeake
Bay Maritime Museum
